vWire 2023: Bringing Awareness to VegEconomy businesses

Star Simmons is the Founder of vWire, a unique wire service dedicated to supporting businesses committed to animal-free and sustainable practices. The idea behind vWire was to create a platform that would help cruelty-free businesses connect with the vegan media and audiences who are passionate about products and services that support a vegan lifestyle. DeliveryRank finds out more.

Why vWire?

vWire came from brainstorming ways to bring more awareness to VegEconomy businesses and professionals working to make the plant-based diet and lifestyle more accessible to others. We noticed that major media outlets don’t give enough attention to advancements and innovations in the vegan sphere.

Bringing awareness to the concerns related to factory animal farming and the effects it has on the climate and public health is rather threatening to the industries profiting from them.

Did you know the U.S. government subsidizes the beef industry with taxpayers' dollars? Without these subsidies, a Big Mac would set a customer back about $50 and since they come from taxpayer dollars, people are in fact paying that much without knowing it.

vWire came from a desire to give vegan companies the attention they deserve by publishing press releases for their sustainable business, brand, or product free of charge.

How do you go about building relationships with vegan media outlets and promoting your clients; products and services through these outlets?

We research potential partners to see if there’s potential for a mutually beneficial partnership. If so, we contact the decision-makers and pitch adding them to our email list for the latest releases.

How do you think the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the vegan industry, and what steps has vWire taken to support its clients during these challenging times?

We’ve seen both positive and negative effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. On the positive side, many people started researching and choosing healthier food options to help strengthen their immune systems. A real buzz around plant-based diet and lifestyle options was created and that’s helped the movement a lot.

On the negative side, people got used to not going out as much, and coupled with the ongoing supply chain issues resulting from the pandemic, many vegan restaurants and businesses were forced to close down.

We always try to spread the word on our social media accounts and in our email newsletters to bring awareness and interest to the struggling businesses we hear about. We try to help them be seen and have their story heard, at the very least.

How do you envision the future of the vegan industry, and what role do you see Vwire playing in shaping that future?

The future of the vegan industry is all about growth and expansion! Plant-based food technologies that are emerging today will be the new industry standard in 20 years. We can see a world without animals in the supply chain and vWire will be there to make sure everyone knows about it.

vWire is only one branch of a vast ecosystem we’re building called The Vkind Network, which also includes The VegEconomy, Vkind Cooks (our vegan cooking channel), and Vkind Studios, which produces original content, such as “Peeled”, the award-winning all-vegan cooking competition we created and produced. We are also in the process of launching Vkind Experience, a brand-new immersive event coming Fall of 2023. We are doing everything we can think of to bring education and awareness to as many people as possible.

How do you see vWire’s role in promoting the vegan lifestyle and raising awareness about the importance of ethical and cruelty-free products?

vWire will continue sharing and publishing press releases that generate buzz for companies bringing awareness to the importance of animal welfare, sustainability, and healthy living. History has shown us the power of grassroots efforts to create change; as we unite with other aligned organizations and individuals, we add to the collective voice and power behind our cause.

In your opinion, what are some of the biggest challenges facing cruelty-free businesses today, and how is Vwire helping to address these challenges?

The biggest challenge is the lack of education and misinformation about how animal-based food is produced or the benefits of a plant-based diet. There are endless challenges with sourcing ethical ingredients and finding manufacturing options for the products without cross-contamination.

Unfortunately, vegan companies aren’t afforded the same opportunities as meat and dairy companies to produce and market their products due to the lack of billions of taxpayers' dollars those businesses receive.

Despite the fact that plant-based products require only a fraction of the agricultural resources meat and dairy requires, they simply aren’t given the capital to develop the technologies that would contribute to global health and wellness.

vWire is helping address these challenges by bringing awareness to inequities such as this and the sustainable companies invested in Purpose before Profit.
