At the heart of every great dream is passion and purpose, and for sisters Jeronica and Be’Anka, their dream has been brewing since they were little girls. Coffee has always held a special, calming place in their hearts, and today, they’re on a mission to share that warmth with the world through their brainchild, Nirvana Soul. As best friends and co-founders, Jeronica and Be’Anka have long envisioned creating a space that nourishes both the body and the soul — a haven where people can escape the hustle of daily life and reconnect with what truly matters. Through Nirvana Soul, they’ve brought that vision to life, offering more than just a cup of coffee. They’re serving up what they call #SelfCareInACup, inviting customers to take a moment for themselves and indulge in a moment of calm. With coffee shops in San Jose and Cupertino, Jeronica and Be’Anka are using the power of coffee and tea to bring people together. In this interview with Delivery Rank, they’ll share their journey, the inspiration behind Nirvana Soul, and what it means to create a space where every sip brings a sense of peace and joy.

Nirvana Soul is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a space that feeds the soul. How do you ensure that every project you manage aligns with this core mission?

At Nirvana Soul, our mission is to bring people together through the power of coffee and tea. As project manager, I focus on initiatives that strengthen our community and embody this mission. For example, we provide community boards at our DTSJ and Cupertino locations where customers can discover local events and services. We also showcase rotating art displays featuring local artists at NSDTSJ and NS@MLK. Our Hotel De Anza, Cupertino and SF locations feature the work of one local artist Akeem Raheem, whose art has been a part of our flagship location since its opening. Additionally, I manage our local vendor program at our DTSJ and Cupertino locations, providing creatives and entrepreneurs with a space to sell their products and expand their customer base. We're committed to deepening our connection with the community and make Nirvana Soul a place where everyone feels at home.

Jeronica and Be’Anka have a strong vision for Nirvana Soul. How do you translate their creative ideas into tangible, successful projects?

Jeronica and Be’Anka have a bold vision of opening 20 Nirvana Soul locations, and together with Be’Anka’s husband, Dap (our COO/CFO), they work tirelessly to turn that vision into reality. My current focus is on expanding our catering program, which has been a fantastic way to introduce Nirvana Soul to more people. We partner with local businesses and nonprofits, providing pop-ups and deliveries throughout the Bay Area. We’ve also participated in major festivals like SF Coffee Fest and Black Joy Parade. Most recently, we had the incredible opportunity to serve coffee during the NBA All-Star Weekend for GirlTrek, a nonprofit dedicated to Black women’s health, where we served hundreds of attendees. Through catering, we’re not only growing our business but also sharing our story and mission with new communities in meaningful ways.

Nirvana Soul is described as #selfcareinacup. How do you see coffee as a form of self-care, and how does that influence the customer experience?

For many, coffee is an essential part of their daily ritual—a moment to pause, recharge, and set the tone for the day. Jeronica chose the name Nirvana Soul to reflect this idea of coffee as both a paradise and a sanctuary. We want every customer who walks through our doors to experience a sense of comfort, joy, and belonging, whether they’re grabbing a quick cup on the go or settling in for a moment of peace.

Coffee culture has deep roots, but innovation is key in a competitive market. How do you balance tradition with new and exciting ideas at Nirvana Soul?

We love experimenting with flavor profiles while honoring the deep traditions of coffee. Our team is always innovating, and we encourage our baristas to share their own creative drink ideas. We often spotlight their creations online for our customer base to enjoy! Since we roast all our coffee in North San Jose, we have complete control over quality, ensuring that every drink starts with an exceptional base. Our Director of Coffee, Alex, recently traveled to Colombia and even had the opportunity to plant a coffee cherry tree, strengthening our connection to the coffee-growing process. We offer a variety of specialty drinks for those looking to try something new—our Mabuhay Ube Latte and Honey Lavender Latte are customer favorites! I’ve personally created drinks like the Serotonin Sunrise, Lover’s Quarrel, and the seasonal D’Angelo Latte, each inspired by unique flavors and experiences to bring customers joy! 

In an industry where customer loyalty is crucial, what strategies do you implement to keep Nirvana Soul's community engaged and coming back?

At Nirvana Soul, we believe customer engagement goes beyond serving great coffee—it’s about building real relationships. We take the time to connect with our guests, whether it’s asking about their weekend plans or celebrating their milestones. From the moment they place an order to when they pick up their drink, we want every interaction to feel personal and uplifting. We also offer a Square Rewards program and student discounts to show our appreciation. Our goal is to make every visit feel like coming to a safe space.
