For Liz, a Charlotte mom of two and passionate breastfeeding advocate, support came in the form of a gifted bag of Milkin’ Cookie mix after her daughter Clara’s birth in 2021. The results were instant—but when she went to reorder, she discovered the company was for sale. Believing in the product and its mission, Liz took a leap of faith. The original founder, relocating out of state, wanted the brand to continue in the hands of someone who truly cared. Liz knew she was the right person. Now, under her stewardship, Milkin’ Cookie is making a heartfelt comeback—preservative-free, high-quality, and crafted with love. When my son was born, I struggled so much with breastfeeding. I tried everything and made it to eight months, but it was a constant battle. When my daughter, Clara, was born, I was determined to have a different experience. A friend gifted me a Milkin' Cookie, and within days, my milk supply went from barely there to overproducing. It was the first time I truly felt confident in my breastfeeding journey.
When I went to reorder, I found out the company was for sale. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I knew firsthand how much these cookies helped me, and I couldn’t let them disappear. I took the leap and bought the company—just weeks before I was laid off from my corporate job after returning from maternity leave. That layoff felt devastating at the time, but looking back, it was the best thing that could have happened. It pushed me to fully commit to Milkin’ Cookie and the mission of supporting moms in a way I wish I had when I was struggling.
Taking over a business is a lot, especially when you’re a mom with a newborn. I had to learn everything—how to produce at scale, source ingredients, handle shipping, and manage the business side while making sure the cookies stayed exactly as moms loved them.
The biggest challenge, though, was shifting the brand beyond just breastfeeding. Yes, these cookies support lactation, but they also improve digestion, gut health, and overall wellness. I knew so many families—dads, kids, even grandparents—who were eating them because they’re just that good. I needed to reframe the messaging without losing our core audience of moms.
To do that, I focused on storytelling and education. I shared my own journey and encouraged other moms to do the same. I also worked to expand our partnerships, getting Milkin’ Cookie into hospitals, retailers, and local businesses so more people could experience the benefits firsthand.
As a mom, I care deeply about what I put in my body and what I feed my kids. There are so many “healthy” snacks out there loaded with preservatives and artificial ingredients, and I didn’t want Milkin’ Cookie to be one of them. I wanted something real—something I would actually feel good about eating while nursing my daughter at 2 AM.
Our cookies and mixes are made with simple, natural ingredients like oats, flaxseed, chia seeds, and coconut oil, which naturally help extend shelf life. The mixes last 18 months, and the baked cookies can be frozen so they’re always fresh when you need them. It’s all about making it easy for moms—because we already have enough to worry about.
I’ve been that mom sitting on the couch at 3 AM, exhausted, Googling “how to increase milk supply” while feeling totally alone. I never want another mom to feel like that. That’s why I stay so engaged with our community—whether it’s through social media, in-person events, or partnerships with experts like lactation consultants, doulas, and postpartum nurses.
One of the things I’m most proud of is our work with hospitals. NICU moms receive a Milkin’ Cookie daily to help bring in their milk, which can be a game-changer when their little ones need every drop. Beyond that, I co-founded The Hot Mom Society, which connects moms directly with resources to make motherhood easier. Whether it’s finding lactation support, postpartum care, or just a community of other moms who get it, I want every mom to feel supported, no matter what her feeding journey looks like.
Absolutely! I’m always looking for ways to make Milkin’ Cookie more accessible and convenient for moms. We’re working on new flavors, grab-and-go options, expanding into even more hospitals and retail locations, and even a new Ambassador Program to support mommas making income. My goal is to get Milkin’ Cookie into the hands of as many moms as possible—especially in those crucial early postpartum days when you’re exhausted, hungry, and just need something that’s easy, delicious, and actually good for you.
