KitsKitchen was born from a personal love of soup and the lack of clean, healthy options available. I understand making soup can be an undertaking and more often than not, it is a large serving so if you are cooking for yourself or grabbing yourself lunch alone, it isn't often the food of choice but I thought it should be! We moved to plant based because both my business partner and I started eating plant based. Our recipes and options grew from there!
It is easier than it sounds. As we have grown and scaled we have needed to change suppliers for consistency sake. However, we are proud to say we still choose organic where we can as well as all of our suppliers are canadian.
We have partnered with fellow plant based companies like HeyKokomo, Yoggu, ModernMeat, etc in order to work with each other and learn from each other.
I think one of the most important qualities for running a startup is adaptability. You need to learn how to adjust, listen to your customers, and roll with the punches because there will be some no question. I believe compassion goes a long way in motivating people. If you treat people well, they want to work with you and want to work hard for you which is even more important.
We have a few ideas up our sleeves. We are launching with an Ontario distributor this fall which we look forward to!! We would also love to partner with other plant based companies as well, this would be ideal!
