Cindy, what inspired you to transition to a plant-based diet after trying so many other weight loss methods, and what makes this approach sustainable for you? 

I was inspired to try a plant-based diet because of a personal training client who suffered from heart issues. She mentioned that she wanted to try it for a month but wasn’t sure. At the time, I was eating a pescatarian diet and had also thought of completely eliminating animal products, so I told her I would do it with her. 

After a month of eating a vegan diet, I couldn’t believe how good I felt. I didn’t even realize I wasn’t feeling optimal before eliminating meat. It wasn’t only additional weight loss, I no longer had sinus issues or hormonal problems, and asthma was no longer a problem. It’s sustainable because the benefits outweigh the negatives. 

How did your personal experience of losing 125 pounds influence the development of the "21 Day Plant-Based Weight Loss Solution"? 

I know how challenging transitioning to a healthier lifestyle and losing weight can be and how important those first 21 days are for creating a new habit, so I developed the 21-Day Plant-Based Weight Loss Solution. 

As a certified health coach, I guide clients through the sustainable 21-day program that not only helps with weight loss but boosts energy and overall wellness. 

Can you explain the "Aim for 8™" strategy and how it helps individuals ease into a plant-based diet? 

You need to start with “addition” rather than “subtraction.” The "Aim for 8™" strategy means beginning to add 8 fruits and vegetables to your diet. It doesn’t mean a complete serving, but rather a slice of tomato, three baby carrots, a handful of berries, or onions and peppers to a sandwich. 

If you begin paying attention to adding 8 different fruits and vegetables a day, you will begin to change your focus and your tastes.

What role does community support, such as the Private Facebook Group, play in helping individuals stick to a plant-based lifestyle? 

Community support, like my Intentional Eaters Private Facebook Group, plays a crucial role in helping individuals stick to a plant-based lifestyle by providing encouragement, sharing tips and recipes, offering accountability, and creating a sense of belonging. 

It allows people to connect with others facing similar challenges, celebrate successes, and stay motivated on their journey. 

How does your "Small Bite" method encourage people to set realistic goals, and how can they use this approach to achieve long-term success without feeling deprived? 

You always reach big goals via small, everyday habits. I couldn’t imagine losing 125 pounds because I had never done it before. However, I could imagine an "Aim for 8™" goal. That habit of eating 8 veggies and fruits, along with other healthy habits, led to my weight loss. 

I encourage everyone to focus on creating a SMALL BITE goal. Here’s the method: 

S - Specific – What exactly do you want to achieve? i.e. I want to lower my cholesterol. M - Motivational – Can you envision your goal? How would achieving it make you feel? A – Action – What action are you going to take to reach your goal? i.e., start the Healthy Habits Jumpstart. 

L – Likely – Is it an achievable goal? Are you likely to stick to the 5-Day Healthy Habits Jumpstart? L – Let it happen – Don’t fret and worry about it. Don’t worry about whether you should be “doing more”. 

Just work towards your SMALL goal every day and let it happen. You will reach your ultimate goal eventually (not in 5 days, but it’s a start) if you continue to make more healthy decisions than non-healthy ones. 

If you begin to focus on the little changes you can make they lead to big life changes. I’m living proof.
