A’isha Bauer didn’t like the idea of people around the world thinking of America as the land of bad and unhealthy food. What she did about that was remarkable: she founded eSutras Organics, an easy-to-use one stop source providing 100% Vegetarian friendly, Made in USA (Chicago) FDA registered and USDA Certified Organic Specialty Foods, Ingredients, Health & Wellness products.
In this special interview for DeliveryRank we asked A’isha about her idea, the biggest challenges she had to face and more.
Everytime I traveled overseas the one constant complaint I heard about the USA was about our indifference to good wholesome healthy foods. "Land of Junk Fast Food" seemed to be the moniker that fitted Americans across the board. As a food biochemist specializing in flavors and taste perception - that stung me to the core.
I realized that there was an opportunity to bring to the table a line of unique but simple to use and familiar foods made holistically.
eSutras Organics was created for the niche market of responsible, health conscious citizens who need economic earth-friendly foods, food ingredients and plant based supplemental products to live a holistic lifestyle.
Our products that feature health, wellness and natural beauty are dedicated to customers who seek unique and creative offerings.
They are unique because they challenge the buyer both with their combinations of flavors, scents, herbs, their health appeal, their multi use capability, simple, elegant packaging and their uniqueness.
The biggest challenge was acceptance into the marketplace as a small manufacturer of wholesome health foods in a field dominated by Nestle, Cargill, Kraft, Heinz, McDonalds, Wendys, etc.,
But we managed to do it, both for ourselves and our private label customers.
People told us that starting a manufacturing company in the United States was not a good idea. Too many regulations, hurdles to jump and high wages to pay, they said. But for the past several years, eSutras Organics has been succeeding against these odds to be a profitable enterprise.
Year after year, we continue to manufacture high quality, small-batch and professionally crafted natural health products with success in Chicago, Illinois. So the answer is a resounding YES- it is possible and very viable to scale this business model to other cities. In fact we are ardently looking for partners to do this.
Absolutely! In fact in this post covid era, more and more people, not just Americans have become extremely health conscious. I foresee a bright successful future for organic eco friendly ethical foods.
Actually it is across the board on the culinary scale. Our seasonings, particularly - eSutras French Four Spice, eSutras Panch Phoron (Bangladesh) and eSutras Pumpkin Pie Spice
Our culinary oils, American grown High Linoleic cold pressed Safflower oil, Sacha Inchi Omega 3 rich Oil and Ideal Balance Drizzle oil are chart toppers. Likewise - eSutras Teas always attract a wide range of customers.
We are actively looking into expansion of our operations through private label partnerships and distributorships of our product lines. We are committed to remaining a made in America product company.
It is our firm belief that smaller, eco-friendly and socially conscious manufacturers will find greater and easier acceptance by the American consumer for their products, especially if they are affordable as well!
We import ingredients from small and large, sustainable farms in the US and around the world, formulate our unique creations to produce the finished beauty, health and wellness goods, using local labor and locally produced sustainable packaging right here in Chicago. My team and I are deeply grateful to be given the opportunity to do this
