DeliveryRank chats with Bas Roos from Bistroo! Bas is passionate about connecting people with the best local merchants and culinary experiences. With Bistroo's user-friendly platform, you can easily discover top-notch merchants near your location. We find out more.
Bistroo’s mission is to give power back to food merchants. How? By cutting out transaction middle-men and building the right tools for food merchants to grow sustainably. Doing so, means our platform allows for more valuable connections between food businesses and their most loyal customers.
Those tools consist of our proprietary software with which merchants can easily create and edit their menus on their restaurant page on Bistroo. We strive to put the right tools in the hands of our merchants, not be some gatekeeper that constantly demands a fee but provides very little value.
We are constantly testing, measuring and optimizing our platform to be the most user-friendly platform it can be. What we lack is a gigantic technological debt, which makes us very nimble. That means we can quickly pivot and change integral parts of our app/website, to make it more user-friendly and effective. Also, we can easily adopt the latest design and UX-trends.
In the upcoming quarters we aim to make the experience on our platform much more personalized.
We charge a commission of 5%. That’s really low compared to other platforms. What's more, we also offer subscriptions. A subscription means a merchant should use Bistroo as their webshop, linking visitors from their website to Bistroo for online orders. All orders coming through that stream are free of commission, since those are a restaurants ‘own’ customers.
They already did the work, won over the hearts of their visitors and once they are ready to order, they are linked to Bistroo. We handle the technical complexity of checkout, payment and feedback to printing devices in the restaurant kitchens.
One example that instantly comes to mind is Two B, a highly successful lunchroom in the city of Eindhoven. They were busy six days a week. So busy, their tiny kitchen could only make x amount of sandwiches per hour.
We got together and created a time slot system, where consumers can place orders which then fill up a time slot with the fixed capacity the kitchen has. Any customers looking to place another order will automatically be planned for in the next time slot. Our software also looks to optimally fill the time slots. So a large order of (x - 2) sandwiches will take up nearly one time slot. When another customer orders 4 sandwiches, they are allotted the next time slot, but a customer ordering 2 sandwiches is placed in the previous time slot, so it is maxed out.
This actually optimized their yield by 20%.
We have a team online and available to respond 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. Also, we have an extensive monitoring set up, so we can very quickly predict which orders may not be received correctly by restaurants.
We facilitate the interaction between restaurant and customer, so in most cases, we simply give a restaurant a quick heads up about an order they might have missed. They act accordingly and fulfill the order. A customer almost always has the experience they expected, very little goes wrong.
When things do go wrong however, we refund the customers and go back to the drawing board to prevent the same errors from happening in the future.
