Dinnerly makes it really easy to pause your future orders in your account settings without having to call customer support. That’s even the case if you purchased your meal box using Dinnerly’s special discount.
While Dinnerly is great as an affordable service, it has its drawbacks. The price is among the lowest available from any meal delivery service, which makes it a popular service. But the tradeoff is simpler recipes, which may be an issue for particular dietary needs.
The good news is other services offer more diversity and better recipes. HelloFresh is a great alternative because it offers a similarly wide menu of tasty dishes and is great value, too.
If the time has come to say goodbye to Dinnerly, I’ll show you the steps to take. I also have some more alternative recommendations to share – so read on!
Sign in and open Settings – Access your account on Dinnerly’s site and open Settings. To cancel your Dinnerly subscription, click on Stop Subscription.
Fill out the survey – Dinnerly wants to know why you chose to leave, so you’ll have to answer a few questions. After, you should receive a confirmation email.
Canceling your Dinnerly subscription is fairly easy, but you need to keep in mind the cutoff date. You can cancel your order until the 5th or 6th day before your next scheduled delivery, depending on the shipping region. As we found in our tested review, the best place to find this information is in your account under Orders.
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to cancel your Dinnerly subscription:
1. Sign in – Sign into your Dinnerly account by clicking the Login button in the upper-right corner of the home page.
2. Open the Settings tab – Once logged in, click on the Settings tab in the top header.
3. Choose whether to stop or pause your subscription – Under Settings, hit Stop Subscription to cancel. You can also pause your subscription at this stage. Simply choose the date to suspend your account until then click Pause subscription.
4. Confirm and complete the survey – Click Confirm and fill out a short survey that lets Dinnerly know why you’ve decided to stop the subscription. Once you’ve followed all the instructions, you’ll get an email confirming that your subscription has been successfully canceled.
If you found Dinnerly a little basic, HelloFresh might be just the alternative to kick mealtimes up a notch. Its menu is family-friendly and extensive enough (100+ recipes and market items each week) to satisfy everyone’s dietary needs. Besides American-based recipes, HelloFresh also brings you the international flavors of Asian, Mediterranean, and Mexican cuisines. Check our full-length review to see how the meals tasted.
Meals marked as Easy Prep or Quick need less than 30 minutes and are the most comparable to Dinnerly’s kits. HelloFresh also has a well-developed customization feature called HelloCustom that lets you personalize your meals. You can swap, upgrade, or change the protein and side dishes in over 12 recipes each week, so it works similarly to Dinnerly’s customization feature, but it’s more expansive.
HelloFresh provides affordable meal kits with the best per-serving price on larger orders. For example, using our link, new customers can enjoy 6 meals for 4 people for just $107.75.
EveryPlate is definitely the next best thing to Dinnerly when it comes to affordable meal kits, especially since the offer includes simple recipes that are ready in 6 steps or fewer. While the ingredients and recipes are comparable, EveryPlate’s menus might be a better fit for you. According to our in-depth review of EveryPlate, there’s a nice combination of American and international cuisines that keep things interesting week after week.
Each week, you get a mix of veggie-friendly meals, easy- and quick-prep meals (under 30 minutes), and family favorites. It also offers Premium recipes that work just like Dinnerly’s do. EveryPlate stands out from Dinnerly due to its Add-ons menu. Here, you can find breakfast and lunch extras, cooked proteins, sides, and sauces.
EveryPlate’s prices are similar to Dinnerly’s, starting at $2.99 per serving, but there’s a difference in plan sizes. EveryPlate’s maximum box size is 5 meals for 6 people per week, which makes it great for larger families. It’s a good choice for both couples and families of all sizes, and shipping costs $10.99 per order.
Home Chef offers a range of recipes ideal for chefs seeking more than just basic meals. Unlike Dinnerly, which primarily targets simplicity and affordability, it provides a more sophisticated culinary experience. Meal types range from traditional meal kits to Express meal kits, fully prepared meals, and additional extras.
Dietary options are also more diverse with Home Chef. These include low-calorie, low-carb, and vegetarian choices. This range is especially beneficial if Dinnerly's menu did not meet your specific dietary requirements. The Customize It feature enhances meal personalization further by allowing you to upgrade or switch proteins in most meals. Our tested Home Chef review mentioned that the Family Menu is great for picky eaters.
Prices start at $9.99 per serving, but unlike Dinnerly, dishes are priced individually. Plus canceling your subscription is straightforward via the Home Chef app. If you're concerned about ease of cancelation after leaving Dinnerly, Home Chef provides a cost-effective alternative with a user-friendly cancelation process.
Blue Apron is the perfect Dinnerly alternative if you’re looking for a service that offers easy kits and prepared meals. At 80+ recipes per week, Blue Apron’s offer is a bit smaller than Dinnerly’s extensive menu. However, Blue Apron offers prepared meals as well as kits and features a huge Add-ons menu.
Compared to Dinnerly’s simple meal kits (6 ingredients or fewer), Blue Apron’s meal kits are a bit more complex. But the Prepared & Ready meals are much simpler. In our tested Blue Apron review, we liked the fact that meals come with a wide range of prep times to choose from, from a few minutes to over an hour. This means you can tailor your order each week to the amount of time you have to cook.
Blue Apron and Dinnerly both offer customization options, vegetarian meals, and Premium dishes. The main difference is that Blue Apron’s offering is higher quality across the board. It still offers a competitive pricing structure, with meals starting as low as $4.00 per serving for its larger plan (5 meals for 4 people per week). While not as budget-centric as Dinnerly, Blue Apron still offers great value.

Absolutely! You just need to follow a couple of steps, and you’re set. No need to call anyone either – you can do it directly from your account in a matter of seconds. Afterward, you’ll get an instant email confirming that the process was successful.
While Dinnerly is a great choice for your wallet, there are plenty of other alternatives. For example, you might want to check out HelloFresh for its family-friendly menu and delicious and healthy weekly recipes.
To cancel your Dinnerly subscription, you’ll need to keep in mind the cutoff date in your area. This is usually the 5th or 6th day before your next scheduled delivery, depending on where you live. If you cancel after this date, you’ll receive (and pay for) your next box – so be careful.
