Can you tell us about your journey and what inspired you to found Holistic StA, Neurothrive, and T-Life? What sets your approach apart from other wellness programs?

Cheri Clark, a former corporate executive turned Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, is making waves in the wellness community with her unique journey and dedication to helping families navigate health challenges, particularly within the neurodiversity community.

Clark's story began when her son was diagnosed with autism, ADHD, OCD, and various medical conditions in 2012. Faced with the disheartening notion that there was "no cure" or "treatment" for autism, she embarked on a mission to find tangible solutions for her son's health issues.

Transitioning from a demanding corporate role to a full-time homeschooling teacher and researcher, she left no stone unturned in seeking answers. Despite consulting with numerous specialists and undergoing extensive medical tests, her son's health remained a constant struggle, characterized by severe gastrointestinal issues, chronic inflammation, behavioral challenges, and seizures.

In her quest for solutions, Clark found support from organizations like the Autism Society of the Keys (ASK) and professionals like Dr. Diane Adreon from the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD). These connections not only provided valuable resources and therapies but also introduced Clark to a community of families facing similar challenges.

In these support groups I started hearing from other parents what they have tried, and was referred to Dr Rossignol, a DAN an integrative autism doctor. For the first time, diet, food, nutrition, food allergies and therapeutic therapies outside of medical therapies was the focus of the treatment protocol.  And for the first time, my son began to heal.

Inspired by her experiences and armed with newfound knowledge, Clark pursued certification as a Holistic Health Practitioner. Now, as the Wellness Director at Jam-Ology Foundation, and founder of Holistic StA, she offers holistic health solutions and support through her NeuroThrive and Therapeutic Living Foods Lifestyle programs.

Through these programs, Clark aims to empower struggling parents by sharing her expertise and providing holistic wellness resources. Her journey from corporate executive to passionate advocate demonstrates the transformative power of personal experiences and the profound impact of community support.

Clark's story serves as a beacon of hope for families navigating similar challenges, emphasizing the importance of holistic approaches and the strength found in togetherness. As she continues to make strides in the field of holistic health, Clark's dedication to supporting the neurodiversity community shines brightly, offering a ray of hope to those in need.

How do you integrate various holistic modalities such as herbal remedies, aromatherapy, and therapeutic diets into your programs to address specific health concerns like inflammation and metabolic disorders?

Drawing from Cultural Roots to Transform Wellness Programs

Growing up in South Africa, Clark was immersed in a culture where food was simple yet deeply nourishing. Her upbringing, influenced by her family's dedication to natural products, bee-keeping and farming instilled in her a profound respect for the health giving power of food. "Growing up no one had cancer" it was not something I was exposed to as a child, it was rare.  Our food was simple, we ate "food from plants, not food produced in a plant".  I did not realize how important that was until I started my research into the causes of chronic conditions and neurological issues.

Drawing from her diverse background as a HHP, CNC, CCMA, CCMH, Clark has incorporated various holistic modalities into her programs extending beyond dietary considerations. She embraces "mother earth's medicine chest, full of healing herbs and flowers" to promote healing and balance.  Herbology and Aromatherapy is a big part of my healing protocols.  It has the power to build, cleanse, nourish, tone, eliminate, strengthen and relax when used therapeutically.  Additionally, she advocates for diets that focus on elimination and food sensitivities, viewing food as medicine to honor the digestive process and support overall well-being.

When my son was ten, I took him to the Ann Wigmore Institute in Puerto Rico, I had a deep longing to get back to natural living and to find the missing pieces of the puzzle.  Through my studies at the Ann Wigmore institute, I learned principles such as food combining, food transition time, enzyme rich foods, the benefits of sprouting and wheatgrass, the many ways in which to incorporate pre- and probiotics, proper hydration, and the teachings of Dr. Ann Wigmore, a pioneer in the field of holistic nutrition.  By emphasizing nutrient-dense, whole, unprocessed foods, Clark aims to reset the body, mind, and spirit, facilitating holistic healing for her clients.

"Food has the power to heal us. It is the most potent tool we have to help prevent and treat many of our ailments".

In your opinion, what are the most common misconceptions people have about holistic health and living foods, and how do you address them in your practice?

Most people do not understand holistic health because they think it is "alternative health" or different than simply taking care of your own well-being by being responsible for what your own health, which can be an overwhelming thought.  Sometimes, by just reframing how I present a thought or idea, the outcome is completely different.  If I say, lets do a "detox" it is usually a big "no!", however, if I frame the same process as "lets kick your metabolism into gear" my clients are onboard, I am giving them the exact same process. It is cultural conditioning. We are not exposed to naturopathy as a way to heal.

Can you walk us through a typical journey that a client might take when participating in one of your programs, from initial assessment to achieving their desired outcomes?

Each of my programs is tailored to meet the unique needs of every client, ensuring a personalized approach to holistic healing. My focus is on achieving tangible results through goal-setting, habit transformation, and dispelling misconceptions about health. I empower clients to tap into their innate ability to heal by fostering belief in their own potential. When working with children on the spectrum, I help their parents understand the importance of therapeutic diets, gut health, nutrient dense foods and supplements and assist in a process called "food chaining" to break picky eating habits.

Through a process of "add-ins and take outs," I introduce beneficial foods and herbs while eliminating harmful ones, facilitating a shift toward improved well-being. Drawing from my extensive studies in various modalities, I facilitate meaningful connections with clients, encouraging them to share their stories and connect with themselves on a deeper level.

I emphasize the holistic nature of health, recognizing the interconnectedness of the mind, body, soul, relationships, and environment. By embracing this holistic approach, clients can embark on a journey of self-discovery and transformation, leading to lasting positive change.

How do you foster a supportive and nurturing environment for your clients as they embark on their journey towards improved health and vitality?

The essence of our work lies in those "aha" moments where breakthroughs occur. Together, we embark on a journey of growth, with a shared investment in achieving meaningful outcomes. Our space is not just safe but also inspirational, fostering an environment where magic unfolds in these transformative moments. It's within these instances of realization and connection that true healing occurs, as we grow together and empower each other towards holistic wellness.
