Daily Harvest made it really easy to pause my future orders in the account settings, without having to call customer support, even though I purchased my first meal box using Daily Harvest’s special promotion.
If you've been disappointed by Daily Harvest's produce delivery service, you're not alone. Maybe you found the selection limited, the cuisines lacking, or the plans inflexible. Besides, you might be wanting more than just fruits and veg. And, if you're just thinking of signing up, it's important to know how easy it is to cancel.
Fortunately, Daily Harvest's cancelation process is a breeze. I’ve checked it out myself to bring you the exact, step-by-step process that you can easily follow. For instance, you can cancel your account right from your online dashboard, or you can get help from a real person if you prefer.
Once you've canceled, I recommend checking out Factor. Unlike Daily Harvest, it has an omnivorous menu with more diverse cuisines and more customization options. Factor offers a large selection of fully prepared meals along with tons of add-ons.
Log into your account to manage your plan – Log into your account to manage your plan – Visit the Daily Harvest website. Then, using the drop-down menu on the left-hand side of the screen, click on Manage Plan to make changes to your account. As explained in our review, this is also where you can reschedule upcoming orders and change the selections you’re receiving.
Update your plan status – Select the option that says Plan Status and use this section to make changes. If you’re currently receiving orders, it’ll show as active. Click on the button that says Pause.
Proceed to pause your account – The next screen will give you a few options before pausing to try and address any issues that you may be experiencing. Once you click Next, your account will immediately pause, and you won’t receive any more orders. You can stop here if you only want to cancel for a shorter amount of time.
Continue through to the cancelation page – In order to completely cancel your account, you’ll still have a few steps. With your account in paused status, you’ll see the option appear at the bottom of the plan status screen to End Plan. Click on this option to continue.
Finalize your cancelation – Like before in step 3, you’ll see a few options from Daily Harvest appear, and you’ll need to click through on the button that says End Plan to make sure that you’ve completed the cancelation process.
You’ll receive an email confirmation for your cancelation that’ll give you future options if you ever want to sign back up. Daily Harvest makes it pretty easy to reactivate your account and will save your order history and addresses for any future purchases.
Factor is my best recommendation if you’re looking exclusively for prepared meals. It offers around 35 options every week across many cuisines and dietary preferences. The meals are much heartier than Daily Harvest’s offerings, while still focusing on healthy ingredients.
I do love that you can order quite a bit at a time, and you can mix and match across any of the plans as well. Our expert review praised the flexible subscription model that allows you to order up to 18 meals per week, which is somewhere between Daily Harvest’s Medium and Large boxes.
Factor’s meals average around 600 calories or fewer. Keep in mind that each meal is a single serving as well, so the service may not be ideal for larger families or kids. The meals contain more sodium than I’d prefer, but the meals are overall impressively healthy.
Factor also offers a free 20-minute consultation with an in-house dietitian. This is particularly useful if you’re trying a new diet or have dietary requirements. No other service has a feature quite like this!
Factor’s pricing depends on the number of meals you order each week, with larger orders lowering the per-meal price. The best-value option offers 18 single-serving meals for $103.41 on your first purchase if you use our link.
2. Green Chef – Best Organic Meal Kits
Compared to Daily Harvest, you’ll find heartier meal kits and bigger flavors with Green Chef. Green Chef offers plant-based meal kits across many different plans and dietary preferences. This also means you’ll have fewer options in terms of ready-to-eat meals.
I thought some of the recipes were intimidating, but there were no complaints in our tested Green Chef review, which found the color-coded recipes easy to follow. Most recipes are ready in 30 minutes, and the meal kits come with premade sauces to simplify the cooking process.
Plus, Green Chef uses all USDA-certified organic produce and eggs. It’s a good alternative if you prize the highest-quality ingredients in your food. Though Daily Harvest does offer some organic ingredients, not everything is organic.
You can get anywhere from 3 to 4 meals per week for 2 to 6 people. If you go with the largest order, you can save some money as well and only pay around $9.99 per serving. Use our special discount code for further savings as well – Free Salads for Two Months + 50% Off Your 1st Box.
HelloFresh offers over 100 meal and market options every week. If you're leaving Daily Harvest in search of a wider variety, I can assure you that HelloFresh won't disappoint. The vast array of choices ensures that every week feels fresh and new. Plus, the menu doesn't stop at just main courses; add-ons can amplify your dining experience.
Each HelloFresh kit comes with straightforward recipes. HelloFresh ensures that every meal is simple to prepare. With its clear, step-by-step instructions, even the most novice chef can feel like a pro. Read our full review to find out how we got on when we tried HelloFresh for ourselves.
HelloFresh provides affordable meal kits with the best per-serving price on larger orders. For example, using our link, new customers can enjoy 6 meals for 4 people for just $107.75. With HelloFresh, not only are you getting premium ingredients and diverse recipes, but the pricing also ensures affordability, particularly when you order in bulk.
If Daily Harvest’s vegan menu is too limited, check out Blue Apron’s omnivorous menu. Our review notes that it offers up an impressive selection of gourmet meal kits and prepared meals. The service features flavors inspired by Asian, Latin American, French, Italian, and other cuisines.
While Daily Harvest only has prepared meals, Blue Apron offers more flexibility. Blue Apron offers two main plans, one for meal kits and one for fresh prepared meals that can be heated in minutes.
Blue Apron also has an Add-ons section to the menu where you can also add frozen, single-serving Heat & Eat meals.
Starting at $4.00 per serving for its meal kits, Blue Apron offers great value for families. If you’re single, you may find the Prepared & Ready meals more appealing, although they do cost slightly more.
