Factor makes it really easy to pause or cancel your subscription without having to offer any explanation as to why. That’s even the case if you used Factor’s special discount!
I like Factor’s flexibility and the large range of diets it caters to, but it can also be taxing on your wallet. If you have a limited budget or adhere to certain diets (such as a plant-based diet), you may find that Factor isn’t the best fit for you.
While looking for alternatives, I found Green Chef to be a great option. It’s a bit different from Factor since it provides meal kits rather than prepared meals. It caters to a wider range of diets including vegan, and meal kits are generally more economical than prepared meals.
Whatever your reasons, I’ll show you the step-by-step process of how to cancel Factor. I’ll also discuss my favorite alternatives, so make sure to read on!

Factor offers an easy, touch-of-a-button cancelation only where required by law. If it isn’t required where you live, you’ll be forced to call or email its customer support. We were able to cancel online when we tested Factor.
Another thing to keep in mind is that you must adhere to the weekly cut-off date and time! Otherwise, you’ll receive (and be charged for) another week of meals.
Factor’s cutoff for order processing is 11:59 pm CT every Wednesday. Make sure you cancel before this time if you don’t want to receive (and be charged for) the following week’s shipment.
Here’s a more detailed step-by-step for canceling your account via the Factor website:
Sign into your Factor account using your email, Facebook, or Google account. To sign into your account, click on the Log In button in the upper-right corner of the Factor website.
Go to Settings and select Plan Settings. On the Settings page, you’ll see several options on the left-hand side of the page. Select Plan Settings, open the Status section, and then choose Deactivate My Plan.
Confirm that you want to cancel. Factor will offer you several options, but if you’re set on canceling, choose Cancel Anyway. Next, choose your reason and click on Deactivate Now.
Once again, there’s a chance that you won’t see the option to deactivate your plan in your Settings menu. If this is the case, you’ll have to get in touch directly with customer service via 1 of 2 methods:
Email Factor customer service – Send an email to [email protected] with your full name, email, and other vital account information. Say you wish to cancel, effective immediately.
Call Factor’s helpline – Call 888-573-5727 and ask to speak to a representative about canceling your account. Once you reach someone, they’ll walk you through everything you need to do.
Factor makes it easy to restart your subscription at the touch of a button if you ever have second thoughts about canceling.
It's easy to see why some people prefer Green Chef over Factor.
First, Green Chef is a meal kit service. This means you have more control over what goes into your meals. Since you’re doing the cooking part, it’s easy to remove and swap ingredients as you like.
Second, Green is certified organic. It puts more care into choosing premium ingredients, like organic beef, chicken, or wild-caught seafood options.
Green Chef also wins some points for its sustainable and eco-friendly practices when it comes to packaging and recycling. Factor is also working on reducing its carbon footprint, but its containers aren’t easy to recycle in every community, which can be a bit problematic.
Green Chef’s prices start at $9.99 per serving, which is quite similar to Factor’s. Premium services usually cost a little more, so I’d recommend taking advantage of a new customer discount to try it out. The latest live coupon I found is Free Salads for Two Months + 50% Off Your 1st Box.

If you’re looking for fresh ready meals, Blue Apron’s Prepared & Ready plan is the best option for you. Prepared & Ready meals arrive fresh, like Factor, but you can also shop from Blue Apron’s Add-ons menu where you can also add frozen Heat & Eat meals to your order.
Most of Blue Apron’s fresh Prepared & Ready meals need just 3 minutes on high in the microwave.
Blue Apron offers very flexible weekly plans. While it looks like you can only order a max of 10 prepared meals when you sign up, when we tried Blue Apron, we found that you can actually add extra meals each week if needed.
Prepared & Ready meals range from $9.99 to $10.99 per meal, which can work out much cheaper than Factor, especially for smaller orders of 6-8 meals where Factor can get pretty expensive. If you don’t mind cooking, Blue Apron’s meal kits can work out even cheaper and are priced from $4.00 per serving.
Eat Clean offers single-serving, ready-made meals suited for several dietary preferences. As we found in our Eat Clean review, this service is a convenient way to fuel your body with all the necessary nutrients, regardless of your diet.
Eat Clean features a good selection of recipes inspired by international cuisines, but all the recipes include simple ingredients that usually appeal to even the fussiest of eaters. So, Eat Clean can be a good option for singles, couples, and even families with children.
Eat Clean doesn’t have an add-on menu, but it does offer a couple of breakfast options, like pancakes, scones, and french toast. However, keep in mind that you can’t mix and match between plans, and not all meal plans have the same breakfast options.
Eat Clean wins major points when it comes to pricing, though. Starting at $4.30 per serving, this is the most budget-friendly service on my list of Factor alternatives.

Yes, you can cancel in just 3 simple steps. Simply access your account (via the website or the mobile app) and choose the Deactivate My Plan option. This action won't remove your account, so if you ever decide to return, you just need to reactivate your subscription.
There are more budget-friendly alternatives, but the cost shouldn't be your sole deciding factor. Most meal delivery services, including the pricier ones, prioritize supporting a healthy lifestyle. I can't definitively say that cheaper options are less nutritious or less healthy. If you value variety and enjoy cooking, Green Chef stands out as an excellent choice.
You must cancel your Factor subscription by 11:59 pm CT every Wednesday. If you miss the deadline, you’ll have to pay for another week of meals.
