Factor’s prepared meals are healthy, delicious, and delivered fresh. Each of the dishes has been designed by dietitians and prepared by in-house chefs. This is also a service that prides itself on the quality of its ingredients, which we learned when we tested Factor.
Factor's weekly menu stands out with about 40 different meal options. This frequent rotation ensures a wide variety to pick from. And each meal comes with clear tags like Keto, Calorie Smart, and Protein Plus.
Factor will particularly appeal to keto dieters and those looking for quick meals to fuel up with pre- and post-gym. The veggie and vegan options are modest in number compared to the range of keto and high-protein options, but they’re a great way to incorporate 1 or 2 meat-free days into your week. Those looking for plant-based options should check out our list of the best vegan meal delivery services.
There’s a wide range of add-ons, too. Pick up extras such as smoothies, soups, cold-pressed juices, high-protein breakfasts, and keto-friendly snacks as you build your box each week. You can also order extra proteins – great if you’re bulking up or want extra protein for muscle recovery.
Factor caters to specialized diets, allowing you to choose from 6 plans:
Chef’s Choice – wholefood meals to fit any lifestyle
Keto – low-carb, high-fat dishes
Calorie Smart – meals with 550 calories (or less) per serving
Vegan & Veggie – meat-free and plant-based options
Protein Plus – meals with 30g (or more) of protein per serving
Flexitarian – well-balanced meals based on veggies and purposeful proteins
The service offers personalized nutrition coaching with registered dietitians. You’ll get a free 20-minute virtual consultation when you sign up, so you can work out which of Factor’s meals might work best for your lifestyle.
Your meals stay fresh for up to a week after delivery. This ensures that you'll have fresh options available until your next delivery.
Factor is one of the more premium options on my list. But for many, the high-quality ingredients and diet-focused menu will be worth the cost. What’s more, you'll likely have a dining experience that feels like you're in a reputable restaurant since pro dietitians and expert chefs create and prepare meals.
You can order between 6 and 18 refrigerated meals per week. Prices drop with larger orders. The best-value offer is 18 meals for just $103.41 on your first order using our link.

Green Chef was the first USDA-certified organic meal kit delivery service and remains a top choice for vegans, vegetarians, and keto dieters. It offers a premium service, with higher-quality, organic ingredients and more complex recipes catering to specific dietary needs, including certified gluten-free options.
Green Chef offers 8 dietary-specific plans, but you’re free to order from the entire menu no matter which plan you choose when you sign up. The plans include:
Keto – low-carb, high-protein recipes free of gluten, grains, soy, and legumes
Plant Based – balanced, meat-free and vegan recipes
Mediterranean – Med-inspired flavors with colorful veggies and healthy fats
Quick & Easy – recipes ready in 25 minutes or less
Gluten Free – dishes free from gluten and soy
Protein Packed – recipes high in protein
Calorie Smart – recipes that include less than 650 calories per meal
Gut & Brain Health – recipes high in fiber and nutrients
The Keto plan is particularly popular. Enjoy dishes like Creamy Paprika Shrimp with Green Beans, Pecans, and Cabbage Slaw. It’s easy to see why Green Chef regularly makes our list of the best keto meal delivery services. The meals are also creative and satisfying enough that you’ll never miss those starchy sides.
You can also order healthy add-ons to fill your fridge, including protein packs like chicken cutlets, ground beef, and salmon filets, plus breakfasts, high-protein snacks, and 10-minute lunches like the Black Bean and Cheese Burritos.
Green Chef is the first meal kit service with CCOF (California Certified Organic Farmers) certification, along with a USDA certification. Its meals feature organic produce, eggs, beef, chicken, and wild-caught seafood.
We tried Green Chef at home and managed to create some great tasting meals. While this service does cost a little more than many others on my list, you get what you pay for. The organic ingredients and antibiotic-free proteins aren’t just healthier for you and the planet, they make for tastier dishes.
The Protein-Packed meals average at around 40g of protein per serving. That’s another reason why Green Chef is a great option for Colorado residents who are looking to lose weight, eat more whole foods, or whip up nutritious post-workout meals in the kitchen. The ready-made seasonings and prepped veggies make cooking easy, too.
Green Chef meals offer significant value for money. Of course, the cost is higher because of the quality of ingredients, but it's worth it. But if this service doesn't fit your budget, consider HelloFresh, its parent company.
Green Chef prices start at $9.99 per serving. Order 3 or 4 recipes per week for 2, 4, or 6 people, with the option to order 2 recipes if you’re ordering for households of 4.

Blue Apron allows you to create restaurant-style dishes in your own kitchen, thanks to its quality ingredients and exciting collection of recipes. The service offers prepared meals and meal kits, which include twists on international and American favorites.
With crowd-pleasing meals like Creamy Tomato Fettucine with Asparagus and Thyme Breadcrumbs, Pimento Cheeseburgers, and Oven-Baked Pesto Gnocchi and Sausage, it’s hard to go wrong. You can also pick up microwaveable meals for those busier nights when cooking is out of the question.
The company’s low-calorie dishes include Turkey Kofta and Tzatziki-Dressed Salad. The service also offers protein substitutions in some meals, including making some meals vegetarian.
Blue Apron’s add-ons make it something of a one-stop shop. You can fill your weekly box with extras such as breakfasts, desserts, party bundles, prepared meals, a la carte proteins, and more.
Blue Apron offers 5 plans to choose from when you sign up for Meal Kits, but you can always order from the wider menu, no matter which plan you choose. The plans include:
Chef Favorites – the Test Kitchen’s top picks
Wellness – nutritionist-approved recipes
Family Friendly – kid-approved dishes, perfect for picky eaters
Fast & Easy – time-saving meals
Veggies – meat-free and plant-based meals
All plans are equally popular, however, and we taste-tested from across the menu when we tried Blue Apron at home.
The Market section features meals you can buy without subscribing, which is something meal delivery services don’t generally offer. There, you can find seasonal boxes, meal kits, and prepared meals.
Blue Apron is worth considering. Its recipes are easy to follow, thanks to clear instructions and online demos. This makes it a great service for anyone who wants to up their game in the kitchen.
Blue Apron’s prices start from $4.00 per serving. You can sign up for at least 2 meal kits for 2 people or 4 prepared meals per week. My favorite feature is that there also doesn’t appear to be a hard limit as to how much you can order at a time.
Seasonal, farm-fresh ingredients
Over 100 recipes and market items each week, plus customizations
Dietary options include vegetarian, pescatarian, and low-calorie
HelloFresh serves more than 2.6 million Americans and has meal kits down to a science. It always sits high on our list of the 10 best meal delivery services thanks to its top-notch customer service, easy-to-navigate website, and wide collection of recipes.
HelloFresh states that it offers 100+ menu items each week. It even has customization options on several meals each week. This feature allows you to make protein and side swaps, like replacing potatoes with broccoli or adding steak to an otherwise veggie salad.
The recipes are labeled by difficulty, with most rated Easy or Medium. If you consider yourself to be a novice, look for recipes with the Easy Prep and Easy Cleanup tags. That said, don’t be afraid to try some of the other more complex dishes. We reviewed HelloFresh for ourselves and found that none of the recipes were too difficult.
There’s also an online marketplace for subscribers, where you can pick up extras like breakfast dishes, sides, salads, desserts, a la carte proteins, and treats.
HelloFresh organizes its menu into 6 plans that cover most mainstream diet choices:
Meat & Veggies – omnivorous meals
Veggie – vegetarian and plant-based meals
Family Friendly – kid-approved recipes
Fit & Wholesome – healthy meals with around 600 calories per serving
Under 20 Minutes – meals ready in less than, well, 20 minutes
Pescatarian – dishes that contain seafood and veggies
HelloFresh is a service dedicated to sustainability. And you can find tons of information on the website about its commitment to reducing food waste, lowering its carbon footprint, and cutting back on packaging.
For inspiration, delve into the on-site Cookbook. You can browse by World Cuisines and Dishes. Cuisines include French, Indian, Italian, and Cuban. You can explore specific dishes, including Meatball and Taco Recipes.
While HelloFresh is a great all-rounder, it’s not best for those with dietary needs. With crowd-pleasing options like curries, tostadas, burgers, chicken, and hearty pasta dishes, it’s a safe bet for families.
But it doesn’t offer meals that are keto- or paleo-friendly, for example. You’ll find some plant-based dishes, as well as some labeled Protein Smart, Carb Smart, and Calorie Smart.
HelloFresh offers mid-tier pricing with great value for larger boxes, giving you a better per-serving cost. For instance, first-time users can get 6 meals for 4 people for only $107.75.
Swap, upgrade, or double-up on protein
30+ meals to choose from each week
Dietary options include carb- and calorie-conscious, and vegetarian
Home Chef wins points for being a service that offers something for most people. Whether you’re a working parent looking for a fast family meal or a couple planning date night, you’ll find something to love thanks to its wide selection of quick-to-cook comfort-food classics and gourmet recipes.
Home Chef has many tempting offerings, including gourmet Culinary Collection options. They feature premium ingredients and more complex recipes designed for those with more time to cook. These start at around $15 per portion, and many have been created in consultation with celebrity chefs, such as Rachael Ray.
In our tested review, we loved how many recipes on Home Chef’s menu support customization. Other meal delivery services offer a few customizable meals each week, but not to the same extent.
For healthier options, look out for carb-conscious dishes and calorie-conscious dishes. If you want vegetarian meals, look for the green leaf icon. Add extras to your box each week, too, including family-sized protein and salad bundles, desserts, breakfasts, bread, snacks, beverages, and more.
This service really pulls ahead with its Customize It feature. It allows you to swap, upgrade, and even double-up on the protein in its dishes. The Hot Honey Bacon-Crusted Chicken (pictured), for example, can also be ordered with New York strip steak, sirloin, or salmon fillets.
Home Chef's ordering process is user-friendly. The menu provides clear timings, difficulty ratings, and spice levels for each meal. Customers can also exclude specific ingredients. But since the meal kits are prepared in facilities alongside allergens, Home Chef cannot guarantee zero cross contamination.
You’ll also find easy-prep kits, oven-ready options, and Fast and Fresh microwavable meals. The menu is, in general, a great fit for omnivores, so if you’re vegan, you’ll fare better with a service like Purple Carrot.
Home Chef stands out with its customization choices and varied menu. Its meal kits are designed for quick preparation, usually ready to serve in no more than 45 minutes.
Prices start at $9.99 per serving. You can order meals for 2, 4, or 6 people per week, making Home Chef a great option for bigger households.
Physician-designed meals and dietary support
150+ breakfast, lunch, and dinner items on rotation
Dietary options include gluten-free, diabetes-friendly, heart-healthy, and more
BistroMD brings you fresh, filling diet meals designed to help you lose weight. The dishes have been crafted with input from nutritionists and dietitians who work alongside BistroMD founder Dr. Caroline Cedarquist, a bariatric physician who launched the service to help her patients kickstart a healthier lifestyle.
BistroMD offers a fixed menu of over 150 meals. The options span across Breakfast, Lunch/Dinner, and Snacks categories. Most meals fall into a few plans. Chicken, Rice, and Cheddar Casserole (pictured) features in 5 meal plans.
All BistroMD meals arrive prepared and can be heated in the microwave in minutes. Low-cal, single-serving portions of classic comfort food are the main theme here. Think Turkey Breast with Brown Herbed Gravy, Meatloaf, and Butter Bean Ragu with Roasted Garlic Brussels Sprouts.
You can even add snacks to your order, too. These include high-protein, high-fiber options like bars, shakes, granola mixes, cheesecake, and more.
There are 7 programs to choose from, all of which cover a number of medical conditions:
Signature – base plans for both men and women
Gluten Free – tested to FDA standards to contain no wheat, barley, or rye
Heart Healthy – low-fat meals containing 600mg (or less) of sodium per serving
Diabetic Friendly – meals containing less than 25g net carbs per serving
Menopause – meals designed to help balance hormones
Keto Flex – a low-carb, metabolic reset program
Vegan – low-calorie meals that are 100% plant-based
The programs are designed to replace all your daily meals (though you can omit breakfast if preferred). This means no weighing out portions, calorie-counting, or trips to the grocery store.
When you sign up, you’ll also have access to BistroMD’s in-house team of dietitians and fitness professionals to support you when you need it.
The company promises high-quality ingredients in every dish, including some organic produce. We tried and tested BistroMD and found that the flavor of the meals takes a back seat to the goal of providing food for weight loss.
Prices start at $6.59 per serving when you sign up for the full plan of 3 meals per day, 7 days a week. However, you can choose between 2 or 3 meals per day, 5 or 7 days a week. It’s also worth noting that BistroMD offers a 15% discount for couples and families.
Vegan meal kits, prepared meals, and extras
12 dinner options each week, plus breakfast and lunch items
Dietary options include soy-free, nut-free, high-protein, and more
Purple Carrot is a great choice both for vegans and non-vegans who want to increase their plant-based food intake. Exciting and creative dishes focus on clean proteins like beans and organic tofu instead of the processed meat substitutes that many services offer.
Purple Carrot sorts its meal kits into 4 distinct categories: Breakfasts, Lunches, Dinners, and Plantry. Dinners are available in 2 and 4 servings, Lunches in 2, and Breakfasts in 4.
Purple Carrot’s prepared meals are ready in 5 minutes or less. Simply pop them in the microwave, and you’ve got a hot meal ready to eat. If you find that you don’t have many vegan options around your workplace, dishes like the Tamarind Curry Noodles or Vegetable Fried Rice will make a healthy plant-powered lunch.
The menu is easy to navigate, thanks to tags such as High-Protein, Soy-Free, Under 600 Calories, Gluten Free, and Nut Free. This means you can easily find the meals that work for you, and the nutritional info is clear and easy to read on each dish.
The service’s food tastes great, as we learned when we tried and tested Purple Carrot. The variety and quality of the meals is more than good enough to please even the fussiest of omnivores.
The Less Prep meals on the menu are great if you like cooking your own food but often find that you’re short on time. These come with chopped and prepared vegetables, premade sauces, and methods that require fewer cooking steps.
Purple Carrot emphasizes the ecological benefits of a plant-based diet. It also encourages people to omit animal-derived ingredients occasionally. What's more, it supports The Farmlink Project, an initiative connecting farms with surplus produce to communities facing food insecurity.
Purple Carrot delivers exceptional value, particularly for those following a plant-based diet. Besides meal kits and heat-and-eat options, it has several frozen meals on offer for a rainy day. And it accommodates a number of dietary needs well.
Purple Carrot prices start at $11.00 per serving. You can order 3 or 4 meal kits per week for either 2 or 4 people, or bundles of 6, 8, or 10 single-serving prepared meals.
Meal kits ready in 40 minutes or less
100+ menu items each week, including desserts and breakfasts
Dietary options include vegetarian, no added gluten, and more
Dinnerly is, without doubt, the most affordable meal delivery service on my list, but it’s also great value. While some budget meal delivery services offer a limited menu, Dinnerly has a large assortment, letting you choose from dozens of items each week. In fact, we reviewed Dinnerly’s menu and found that it offers more choices than many higher-priced companies.
Dinnerly is a meal kit delivery service with a broad selection. It features a large menu of around 100 weekly dishes and publishes its upcoming recipes 4 weeks in advance. For even more forward planning and competitive pricing with an extensive menu, HelloFresh is another option to consider.
The menu largely comprises family-friendly takes on American classics. With plenty of No Chop! and other easy-prep options, Dinnerly is great for families with young children. Look for tasty-sounding meals like the Saucy Beef and Ricotta Meatballs and Baked Popcorn Chicken with Smashed Potatoes.
The menu is large but fairly easy to navigate, with tags such as Under 30 Minutes, Dairy-Free, Kid-Friendly, No Added Gluten, Nutritious, One-Pot Meals, and more. If you suffer from specific food sensitivities or intolerances, the online Ingredient Hub will let you check every item on the menu for allergens.
Dinnerly brings you top-quality ingredients, such as antibiotic-free chicken, vegetables sourced from family-run producers, and occasional organic items. While it doesn’t necessarily cater to specialized diets like keto, you will find veggie and some vegan dishes on the menu, plus extras like ready-to-bake desserts, prepared meals, and sides.
Dinnerly keeps its prices low by limiting its paper and plastic use. This isn’t just cost-effective, it’s good for the environment, too. Dinnerly bundles its ingredients together in one box and lets you sort them out rather than packing them separately and using lots of plastic.
The service gives you the option to include paper recipe cards, but if you opt not to, you’ll need to access the recipe via the app or website on your tablet or phone – which could be inconvenient for some. The recipes are easy to follow, but there’s no photography to guide you.
Dinnerly is an excellent choice for the budget-conscious, offering an extensive menu with customizable options. However, the lack of dedicated meal plans can be a drawback, as it requires customers to individually evaluate each dish to determine if it meets their needs.
Prices start at $2.12 per serving. You can subscribe to 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 meals every week serving either 2 or 4 people.
Organic, macro-balanced prepared meals
Eliminate unwanted ingredients from a limited selection
Dietary options include keto, paleo, Whole30, and more
Trifecta offers fitness- and health-focused plans for almost every kind of diet. Whether you’re looking to lose weight, bulk up, or take your training to the next level, the service’s prepared meals and tailored plans could be an easy way to meet your health goals.
Trifecta offers 4 different high-protein meal plans. These include Clean, Keto, Paleo Whole30 Approved, and Plant Based. You can order up to 3 meals per day on each one. All the meals promise to be free from GMOs, preservatives, and refined, processed ingredients.
You can choose your own meals or let Trifecta’s chefs pick for you. The latter is great for anyone who wants to put healthy eating on autopilot. Plus, you can select 1 or 2 ingredients that you’d like to exclude from a limited list – think mushrooms, tree nuts, shellfish, etc.
Trifecta also offers an a la carte Meal Prep menu, which includes a range of proteins, carbs like brown rice, sweet potato, and quinoa, and veggie sides. This option also works out cheaper per serving but will require some more prep and macro tracking on your part.
Subscribers will also get access to Trifecta’s nutrition experts and online resources, including forums where you can connect with fellow Trifecta community members. With health and nutrition articles, daily challenges, and the option to track your progress via the Trifecta app, this service makes sticking to a healthy diet really simple.
Keto dieters, in particular, should consider this service because this plan is its most popular. For this reason, Trifecta is among the top-rated keto meal delivery services, as rated by our culinary experts. See what we thought when we taste-tested Trifecta.
The company is a great choice for people following keto or paleo diets. It’s also among the top choices for individuals insisting on staying on track with their macro intake. But you can choose only 1 plan. To mix and match prepared meals from different plans, consider Factor.
Trifecta prices start at $13.79 per serving. You can order 5, 7, 10, or 14 single-serving lunch and dinner entrees per week, with the option to add on 7 breakfasts, too.

With so many options, finding a service that best suits your needs can be overwhelming. Here are some professional pointers on choosing a meal delivery service that’s right for you:
What's your day like? Look at the menus and see if the prep and cooking times work for you. If you like spending time in the kitchen, go for a service that delivers fresh ingredients and recipe cards. If you're pressed for time, pre-made meals might be your best bet.
Do you have dietary needs? While many services are getting better at offering vegan options, those who prefer to stick to a plant-based diet should look for services that offer a dedicated menu, such as Purple Carrot. If you’re a keen keto dieter, Green Chef and Trifecta are also worth a look.
Can you pay for it? Look at the price per serving on the plan you need and think about things like shipping costs and how often you'll still need to go grocery shopping. Dinnerly, our cheapest service, gives you a lot for your money.
Is the service flexible? All the services I've mentioned have excellent cancellation policies, but some make it difficult to skip weeks, adjust orders, or cancel subscriptions. Seek out flexible services, especially if you often travel or are likely to get tired of the menu. And remember, if a service doesn't meet your expectations, don't hesitate to switch.
Factor wins my coveted top spot for the best meal delivery service in Colorado Springs. The service is known for its healthy prepared meals and varied menu that caters to niche diets, but you can also pick up add-ons including proteins, snacks, and bundles.
Factor is your best choice for prepared meals in Colorado Springs. Factor’s meals arrive fresh, having been created by in-house dietitians and prepared by chefs. All you need to do is heat and eat. The menu is particularly great for keto dieters, gym-goers, and those looking to lose weight with calorie-controlled meals.
Green Chef was the first USDA-certified organic meal delivery service and offers a wide range of organic produce and proteins that are antibiotic and hormone-free, and sustainably sourced. This service also caters well to dietary needs, with plans for those on keto, plant-based, and high-protein diets.
BistroMD’s prepared meals are the best choice for weight loss. BistroMD was founded by a bariatric physician, and the company’s team of registered nutritionists and dietitians have developed calorie-restricted menus for several lifestyles and medical conditions.
Dinnerly is the most affordable meal delivery service in Colorado Springs, with meals from $2.12 per serving. Dinnerly keeps its prices low by offering more pared-back dishes, but still gives you 100+ choices every week.
